Progressive Swimming Levels

NY Sports 4 kids swimming levels are designed to help our members of all ages reach excellence and achieving their desired goals.

Water Angels:

Water Angels is an exiting level for our babies ages 6 to 18 months old, where they will learn to adjust to the water environment and learn how to like the water and not be afraid of it. This class is based on songs that has swimming drills to help our water angels become fearless future swimmers. Skills learned at this level are: floating on the back and front, front crawl kick and back stroke kick, basic front crawl arms technique and a learn how to go under water through a series of under water drills and game. Parent or caregiver must be in the water with their children.

Water Tots:

This level is for kids ages 18 months to 3 years old. Parents or caregivers must accompany their kids in the water also, this level is more advanced then Water Angels where our Water Tots students get to learn and perfect front crawl and backstroke techniques throughout a series of drills and exercises.Our students will be doing more advanced under water drills and swimming techniques to help them feel more comfortable in the water and one day they will be able to swim with a float independently before they reach the age of 3 years old.

Angel Fish:

This level is for children ages 3 to 5 1/2 years old who have never swam on their own or have no water experience. Our swimmers at this level will learn how to swim with a float (belt) independently without their parents or instructors help. Level goals are; water adjustments, eliminate fear of water, learn and perfect basic swimming techniques for front crawl and backstroke, build basic swimming stroke's coordination, build strength and the proper front crawl and back stroke muscles. 

Starfish:

This level is similar to the Angel Fish group, this level is for kids 3 to 5 1/2 years old who have a bit more experience in the water.

Level goals are: swimming independently and comfortably with a float (belt) in the water, swimming with face in the water, learn and perfect basic swimming techniques of front crawl and backstroke, build swimming stroke's coordination and build the proper front crawl and backstroke muscles.

Butterfly Fish:

This level is for kids 4 to 5 1/2 years old who are able to swim with a float (belt), and who can put their face in the water. The goal of this level is to learn and perfect more advanced front crawl and backstroke swimming techniques, build more confidence in the water, and swim independently without any flotation device and stay above water for a certain amount of time without any assistance.

Rainbow Fish:

This level is for kids 4 to 5 1/2 years old who are able to swim comfortably and independently for a limited period of time, and who can swim with face in the water. Here our students learn how to stay above water at all times and learn how to tread water, perfect front crawl and backstroke techniques, build advanced swimming stroke's coordination, learn and perfect side breathing, build strength, speed and swimming independently without any assistance.

Cat Fish:

This level is for comfortable, independent swimmers ages 4 to 5 12 years old that can swim independently with any assistance but need more work on their swimming techniques. Level goals are; perfect front crawl and backstroke technique including side breathing, learn basic front crawl starts and dives, swimming under water for longer periods, perfect strokes coordination, strength and speed. 

Barracuda:

This is a beginner level for kids ages 6 to 14 years old who have little or no experience in the water. Swimmers will learn to eliminate their fear of water, learn basic swimming technique for front craw and backstroke, build general endurance and stroke coordination, and swim half a length of the pool independently without any assistance.

Blue Marlin:

This level is for kids ages 6 to 14 years old who are able to swim independently at least half a length of the pool and stay above water without any trouble. Students are comfortable by themselves in the water to a certain degree. Our swimmers at this level will learn and perfect more advanced swimming techniques for front crawl and backstroke including starts and dives, learn how to swim independently in deep water and swim a length of the pool without assistance.

Sail Fish:

This level is for kids 6 to 14 years old who are able to swim a full length of the pool using the proper front crawl technique and float on their back without any trouble. Our swimmers at this level will work on perfecting the front crawl technique including starts and turns and learn and perfect the backstroke swimming technique as well.Goals are; perfecting front crawl and backstroke techniques, swim laps with front crawl technique with out any assistance, demonstrate at least a good backstroke technique by swimming a full length of the pool.

Sword Fish:

This level is for advanced swimmers ages 7 to 14 years old who are able to swim at least two lengths of the pool using proper front and backstroke technique, and demonstrate starts and turns for both styles. At this level, students will focus on perfecting their backstroke swimming techniques and learn the basic techniques for the breaststroke. The ultimate goal for this level is swimming laps with proper front crawl and backstroke swimming techniques including stars and turns.

Dolphin:

This level is for advanced swimmers ages 7 to 14 years old who are able to swim laps and demonstrating proper front crawl and backstroke techniques, at this level our swimmers will focus on perfecting the breaststroke technique. The main goals for this level are swimming properly with three mentioned swimming, swim at least one lap with each swimming style mentioned and learn the basics of the butterfly swimming technique.

Shark:

This is the most advanced level for swimmers 8 to 14 years old. At this level, swimmers must demonstrate swimming 2 length of the pool of front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke.This level main goal is perfecting the butterfly swimming technique. preparing to be strong candidates for swim teams across the state by perfecting all stroke techniques, as well as improving endurance, strength, speed, and coordination.
